The Germantown Boys' Cross Country Team competed at the Leighton-Betz Invitational in Greenfield Park on Friday, September 4th. Hot and humid conditions challenged our harriers, especially the freshman boys who raced first at 3:50 pm in the afternoon. A solid group effort earned 2nd place team finish for the freshman boys; and they were only 3 points behind the top team - Menomonee Falls. Aarav Patel, Will Reedy, Connor McGinty, Evan Paruch, and Max Goltry all ran great races to set the tone for the day.
In the JV race the team had two personal records (PRs) achieved by Victor Chang and Josiah Schmidt who are both new to cross country this year. Justin Sossaman, Amay Desai, Josiah Schmidt, Jimmy Zheng, and Landon Leukert were the 5 scoring runners in the JV race.
The Varsity squad ran one of their better races - they went out controlled and steadily moved up passing people during the race. The team was in 21st place at the mile mark; 17th place at the 2 mile mark; and finished the race in 14th place out of 23 scoring teams. Congrats to Vander Hausmann on his 8th place finish which earned him a medal. Emanuel Santiago ran a masterful race with his splits and moved up 33 spots; Ben Armstrong moved up 20 spots; Ishaan Singh moved up 18 spots; Will Grimm moved up 15 spots; and Blake Yegge moved up 4 spots.
The team hits the road on Friday, September 11th to race under the lights at the Neenah Night Race. Good luck!
The Girls' Cross Country Team has continued to lay down the building blocks for a successful season over the past week! The Warhawks traveled to Greenfield Park on Friday, September 4th for the meet hosted by Nathan Hale. Despite the blistering heat and muddy conditions, the girls posted solid times and places. Freshman, Kennedy Abler, led the JV squad by placing 19th out of 280 runners. For the Varsity race, Gracie Ballesteros placed 11th and Avery Burns placed 21st out of 160 runners to bring home medals!
On Thursday, September 10th, the team traveled to Hales Corners Park for a meet hosted by Whitnall. With slightly better conditions, the girls were able to put their hard work to the test! The JV race was led by medalists Kennedy Abler in 2nd place, Ella Pedersen in 5th place, Angela Bengtson in 9th place, and Clare Kanters in 10th place. The Varsity team brought home more medals, with Avery Burns in 3rd place, Gracie Ballesteros in 4th place, Kierta Siegert in 6th place, and Katie Murkowski in 10th place. The JV and Varsity squads both placed 2nd as a team! The Warhawks will take advantage of a longer training week before their next competition on Saturday, September 19th hosted by Muskego.

The Girls' Varsity Golf Team got a taste of home cooking with their mini-meet at Blackstone Creek this week. The girls battled hard and took 6th in the meet. Led by Remy Lichtig’s 42, Ella Larson’s 46 and Reagan Wille’s 47 a new PR for her. The girls have a busy week ahead with our last mini-meet on Tuesday and a trip to Erin Hills on Thursday.
The JV team lost a tough dual to Brookfield East. They battled windy conditions and will look to bounce back in the final dual of their season next week against Tosa.
The JV2 team continued their winning ways defeating DSHA this week. Lacy Privat and Hannah Jorgensen led the way with dual 41s. The girls will look to carry their momentum into their two duals next week. Best of luck!
The GTown Boys' Soccer Team fought hard on Tuesday night but ended up coming up short, 6-4, against Wauwatosa East. The boys also celebrated their parents for Parent's Night. Next up, the team travels to West Bend tomorrow/Saturday for a varsity match-up at 2pm. Good luck!

St. Thomas More hosted at Pleasant Valley Tennis Club where singles and doubles fought to win their individual tournament. A Game Day Friday for the Wall of Sound is very full. There is practice right after school until 5:00. The Band Boosters feed them dinner, then the members get into uniform for the game. This week, they played for the Freshman Tailgate and then provided pregame music at the stadium. The band was very excited to perform the first part of their fall show for the home crowd and appreciated the generous applause. The night ends with a 5th quarter performance after the game before returning to the school to change out of uniform.
This Saturday (9/12) is Marching Band Madness. Germantown will host bands from Cedarburg, Franklin, Greenfield, and Sussex-Hamilton. Each band will play their shows and the night concludes with a mass band performance. The show starts at 7:00 pm at Datka Stadium.

There were approximately 575 athletes racing across the different categories. The course consisted of many technical features including bridges, berms, rock gardens, difficult climbs and flowing down hills. Liam, Alexander and William all had outstanding races.
