Dear Germantown Community Members,

Germantown is a regional leader academically as demonstrated by exceptional academic performance.  We were honored to be one of less than 500 schools to be named to the National Advanced Placement Honor Roll last year.  Germantown High Schools ACT composite score was the highest in the history of the district in 2010 at 23.7 and an average score of 23.1 in 2011.  Germantown High School graduated 100% of the students in the Class of 2011.  Kennedy Middle School was named an exemplary middle school for the second year in a row and Rockfield Elementary Schools is completing the prestigious nomination for a Blue Ribbon School.  Our schools continue to be warm, welcoming, rigorous places for our students to be empowered and inspired to success.

As we are at the midpoint of the school year, we can look back and reflect at the tremendous growth students have made and look forward eagerly with plans for the continuation of that growth in the second half of the 2011-12 school year.   We are thankful for our staff and their dedication to each student’s learning.  We will continue to serve students to the best of our ability within our financial limits without compromising research-based practices, data-driven decision making, and a broad range of experiences and innovative programs.

Our sound financial leadership supports our ability to enhance the curriculum.  In addition to increasing our standing as one of the top sixteen money managing districts in the state and decreasing our borrowing, our school taxes decreased 2.5%.  Please thank our Board members and leadership team for working diligently to build a balanced budget.  They have shown through their actions their concern for and ability to balance our community and school needs.  During this second half of the school year, we begin the process of building the 2012-13 budget.  We realize that information is valuable as you make decisions and we anticipate you will continue to be informed stakeholders.  We are transparent, and you have access to a great deal of information, viewing the same documents our Board of Education uses within this website.  We hope you will visit the school web pages and enjoy getting to know us!

As we serve approximately 4,000 students each day, we recognize that our role is pivotal to the quality of life we all enjoy.  We also recognize that role is successful through the collaborative efforts of our families, our community, dedicated and skilled school staff, effective leadership teams, and the hard work of our School Board.  Together, we make a tremendous difference.  Thank you for all that you do each day to support the education of our students.

Go Warhawks!
