What is the Academic Support Center?
The Academic Support Center is a new addition to Germantown School District for the 2007-2008 school year.  It provides academic assistance in many forms: scheduled tutoring, walk-in tutoring, technology assitance, and writing assistance.  It also serves as a testing center where students are able to make up missed tests and/or quizzes in a secure and quiet manner.  Enrichment seminars will also be offered by the ASC.

Where is the ASC?
The ASC is located in room 151 which is directly across from the library.

When is the ASC open?
The ASC is open Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 2:45 pm.

Who can use the ASC?
ASC services are available to ALL students at GHS.

How does my son/daughter get signed up?
Students do not need to sign up for the ASC.  They just need a pass from a teacher and need to indicate an academic goal to use the ASC during school hours.  Before or after school students do not need a pass.

What happens when a student arrives at the ASC?
The first thing a student will do is sign in and indicate an academic goal such as "math help".  An ASC teacher will then assist the student with whatever they need.  Peer tutors may also be available.

Shouldn't students get help from their own teacher?
The ASC is considered a "second line of defense".  Students should seek help from their classroom teacher before coming to the ASC. The Academic Support Center will work with classroom teachers to help students succeed!

Who staffs the ASC?
The ASC is staffed by one full time coordinator, Mrs. Collins, as well as one certified teacher throughout the day.

When can my son/daughter use the ASC?
Students can use the ASC before or after school without a pass from a teacher. However, during school hours, students must have a pass to visit the ASC.

What services does the ASC provide?
The ASC functions as a tutor center where students are able to get help with their academic classes as needed.  It also functions as a resource for students to learn and use sound study strategies and notetaking strategies.  In addition, the ASC also serves as Germantown High School's testing center where students are able to make up tests and quizzes missed due to absences.  The ASC maintains a 10 station computer lab reserved for students who need help with projects and papers.  Finally, the ASC will offer enrichment seminars such as test taking strategies, notetaking strategies and study strategies.
