From Mrs. Kucharski

I always wanted to keep a journal of the many things student ask the teaching staff.  They tend to be so insightful, and at times humorous.  Here have been some of my favorite questions from the Amy Belle students, with my responses.  My hope is that it will help this wonderful community learn more about their first year principal.   Enjoy!

  1.  Are you married?  Do you have kids?

Yes, I am married and I have two children.  They are five and three years old and one is a boy and one is a girl. I sometimes bring them to school for movie night and other activities.

  1. What does your husband do?

My husband is an architect and we have our own small design build firm.  He helps a ton with our children since my schedule is very busy.

  1. What do principals do?

I am the lead learner at Amy Belle!

  1.  How long did you go to school?

After I became a teacher (4 years in college), I went back for my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from UW-Milwaukee.  When I was a teacher in Elmbrook, my principal suggested that I might be a good principal, so I went back to school for my principal license.  I have a total of 6 years of graduate school.

  1. Do you like Amy Belle?

No, I LOVE Amy Belle!

  1. What do you like best about Amy Belle?.

Everyone from students, parents and the staff have made me feel very welcome.  There are lots of smiling faces in the classrooms, lunchroom, recess and arriving off the buses.   Planning Bellefest and school events are my favorite.  Who doesn’t like planning a party?

  1.  Do you miss your old school?

Of course I miss the great relationships I established, but honestly, I miss having my own classroom more!  Teaching remains a great passion in my life.

  1.  What is your favorite subject In school?

Reading, reading and more reading.  I love the Harry Potter series.

  1.  I have been in your office.  Do you like Mickey Mouse and chocolate?

The chocolate is mostly for the staff.  I can always tell what kind of week everyone is having based on the candy level J!  I do love Mickey Mouse.

  1.  What is your favorite part of being a principal?

I became a principal to positively impact student learning.  Everyday when I drive home I reflect on…what did I do today that made an impact on student learning?  My goal is to always list many things…

  1. Who is your best friend?

Truly…my husband
