| Definitions of Giftedness |
| Click the link above for definitions.
Various definitions of giftedness have been offered, but there have been no universally agreed upon definition. Giftedness, intelligence, and talent are often used interchangeably, although they look different in different contexts and cultures.
In Germantown, we assert there are children who demonstrate high performance, or who have the potentional to do so. We have the responsibility to provide optimal educational experiences for talents to flourish in as many children as possible, for the benefit of the individual and the community. |

| Parent Inventory - Click Here |
| Parental / Guardian input is a vital piece of the information gathered to determine eligibility for gifted and talented services. The following inventory can be found in the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction?s Resource Guide for Educators, Coordinators, and Administrators for Wisconsin Public Schools and is adapted from Joseph Renzulli?s School-wide Enrichment Model: A Comprehensive Plan for Educational Excellence, 2nd Edition. The following inventory is meant to give information to educators regarding areas of potential gifts and talents. It is not meant to be the sole indicator to meet eligibility criteria. In addition, educators should use the information to then conduct a brief discussion with parents/guardians to gather information about specific examples / indicators. |

| Referral for Services Form |

|
| Social/Emotional Issues |
| As a group, gifted students are socially and emotionally healthy and perhaps more well adjusted than many of their age peers; nonetheless, there are some issues that may affect them. Just as the presence of any of these does not necessarily mean that a child is gifted, neither does the absence indicate the child is not gifted. There are different types of social/emotional issues. |
